Marquette Junior Hockey will again this year be offering our USA Hockey Skill Development Program. The Skill Development Program is designed for brand new skaters. It is targeted at boys and girls in the 4-6 year-old age group, but we have had skaters in previous years as young as 2 and as old as 15.
It is a fun, hockey based "learn-to-skate" program that takes your young skater literally from the ground up. The skater is taught to stand on his skates, skate forward, skate backward, turn, and stop. This is accomplished through a series of educational drills and fun games. There is no competition in the Skills Development Program.
Beginning this year (2015) the program will meet on Mondays from 6:30 - 7:20PM on the Olson (small) Rink and Wednesdays from 6:00 - 6:50PM on the Russell (big) Rink. The program begins on the first Wednesday in October and runs through the last Wednesday in February.
The cost for this six-month program is $95. Included in the fee is a hockey stick for each player, a roll of hockey tape, and a hockey jersey.
To register for the program, click the "Registration" button in the left hand column of the home page and follow the instructions. Registration never closes, you are welcome to join the program at any time.
