Marquette Junior Hockey

At the annual election of directors for the MJHC Board of directors, following the February 1st Regular Board Meeting. Three seats, Shane Place, Brian Nebel and Linda Winslow were up for election. Two persons filed for election to those positions, Brian Nebel and Linda Winslow. At that point, according to MJHC bylaws nominations were accepted from the floor. Tony Rabitaille was nominated and received a sufficient second and was placed on the ballot. No other nominations were received from the floor.

With three candidates for three positions, no election was held, and on June 1, 2012, Brian Nebel, Linda Winslow and Tony Rabittaille will begin 3 year terms as members of the MJHC Board of Directors.

The 27th Annual Marquette Mite Invitational "Betty Beckman Memorial Tournament will be held at the Lakeview Arena February 24-26, 2012. The Tournament fee is $250.00 per team. This will be a half-ice tournament. Click the "Tournaments" button to the left for information and entry forms.

 At the December 7, meeting of the MJHC Board of Directors, a new policy was passed concerning spectators in the Russell Rink. The new policy reads:

"No game will be allowed to start while there is anyone with the exception of credentialed media in the area above the benches. This includes coaches not on the bench, players not dressed and parents." Any person that is in the area above the benches will be asked by the referees to please move. If the person(s) do not comply, the referee will hold the puck and the clock will run.

The MAHA State Tournament Committee met on Saturday, Dec. 3, and confirmed the following sites and dates for the 2012 MAHA State Tournaments:

Squirt B - March 2-4, Negaunee Arena
Squirt AA - March 2-4, Calumet Coliseum
Pee Wee B - March 2-4, Great Lakes Sports Center - Fraser
Pee Wee AA - March 2-4, Mt. Clemens Ice Arena
Bantam B - March 16-18, Polar Palace - Lapeer
Bantam AA - March 2-4, McMorran Complex - Port Huron
Midget B - March 2-4, Taffy Abel Arena - Sault Ste. Marie
Midget BB - March 9-11, Northern Lights Arena - Alpena
Midget AAA - March 7-11, Taylor Sportsplex
Girls 19U House/Rec - March 2-4, Lakeview Arena - Marquette
Girls 19U Tier II - March 5-11, DISC - Dearborn
